How to build a $800 commercial quality automated hash washing machine
Building a $800 Commercial-Quality Hash Lab
In the world of solventless extraction, you usually have two choices: spend $5,000+ on a high-end stainless steel commercial washer, or settle for a $150 blue washing machine that breaks after three runs and beats your resin into a green pulp.
We believe in a third path the High Performance DIY. By combining industrial-grade hardware with precision software, you can build a wash rig that rivals commercial units for under $800.
Here is how you build the setup.
1. The Vessel: 6 Cell Stainless Steel Honey Extractor ($296)
Commercial quality starts with food grade equiptment. Plastic tubs leach plastics and lose cold fast. Look for a 20-gallon stainless steel honey extractor for easy cleanup and set up!
Modification: Add a Tri-Clamp bulkhead. This allows for a "Calyx Canal" that can be easily sanitized.
2. The Power: Industrial DC Gear Motor (Included With Honey Extractor)
The cheap washers fail because they use cheap, high-RPM AC motors. For commercial quality, you need a High-Torque DC Gear Motor (24V or 12V).
The Advantage: DC motors allow for the ability to spin slowly with massive power. This ensures that even when the vessel is packed with ice and 4,000 grams of fresh frozen material, the motor won't stall.
3. The Brain: The Calyx Canal ($150)
This is where the magic happens. A motor is just "dumb" iron until it has a controller.
The Calyx Canal Method: Our Terminal controller uses a custom ramped gradient. It doesn't just spin it creates a gentle, non-linear vortex.
Automated Cycles: Set your wash for 3, 6, or 12-minute cycles with multiple tuneable options built-in. This automation ensures consistency across every batch, a requirement for any commercial-scale operation.
Easy install - Just a few wires to plug in, fit the Calyx Canal onto the existing motor control box, and screw the controller down. Then your ready to go! No wires to cut or splice! Our plug in solution keeps your warranty intact!
4. The Paddle: The Smooth-Flow Impeller ($135)
Discard the plastic fins. To protect the glandular integrity of your material, you need a Stainless Steel paddle.
Multiple movable paddles: The required kit comes with 2 stainless steel paddles and can be adjusted anywhere on the shaft. This gives more control on how much you agitate your material. The dual paddle setup also allows you to move more material at lower speeds thus increasing quality.

Why Build vs. Buy?
Building your own rig using Calyx Canal gives you field serviceability. If a part breaks in the middle of a harvest, you can fix it. More importantly, it allows you to tune your Calyx Canal flow to the specific strain you are washing.
A heavy, lactic strain requires a different agitation gradient than a greasy tropical strain. With a DIY rig powered by Creekside Cultivars, you have the data and the power to make that adjustment on the fly.
